So there is this girl – Minal- who loses her virginity to her boyfriend Aneesh at the age of 19. They had sex with her consent…no, they liked each other and both agreed to have sex as they were ‘consenting adults’.

Later, probably (not sure because film did not give details on this) Aneesh and Minal broke up so she went ahead and had sex – with her ‘YES’ – consent with other guys as well – Dinesh, Suresh, Jignesh..etc (just guessing names – not mentioned in the film).

By the way, whether she at all broke up with Aneesh is not really mentioned in the film. It is quite possible that along with Aneesh being her permanent boyfriend, she had flings with other males too.

She was a working woman, had to attend to night shifts so she had taken an apartment and was sharing it with 3 other girls. Although her parents too lived in Delhi, but she moved into a rented apartment because her job demanded late nights and her parents used to be awake for her arrival and they also got worried – so in order to relieve her parents from unnecessary worries, she had moved into a rented apartment.

Many girls do that.  Moreover, late night arrivals are not seen as GOOD by the neighbours – especially if you happen to have grown in a locality. Neighbours ask demeaning questions about late night arrivals so it is one of the best options for girls having late night shift duties. Though most companies are liable to give a late night drops to their employees – like in Service and IT industries, early morning pick-up and late night drops are mandatory and such companies have labelled cars that pick-up and drop employees. So often neighbours quieten after some time…esp. when their children also begin to grow up and they come to know that there are such shifts in Organisations nowadays.

Anyways, diverted from the story.

About her other 2 roommates – Falak, is a working woman, drawing 40k per month. She is having an affair with an aged divorcee professor who also helps her by giving  money that she badly needs to take care of her ailing brother .

Another girl Andrea also lives with them who is from North Eastern region of India – Meghalaya..this was stressed too much in the film probably because it is assumed that girls out there are very bold and game too. Not sure whether this was the reason why this point was stressed so much.

The turning point of their lives:

Three of the girls decide to attend a rock concert. They meet a common friend – a boy – who was with his other male friends. The had put up in a resort close by so they invite the girls over for dinner. Since the boy was known to Minal well – like he was her classmate in school – so they agreed to have dinner with them.

Drinks were served and they all had hard drinks. Then they shared non-veg jokes too, they take a selfie – all of them were smiling etc. Suddenly the boys started to take the girls out of the room (where they all were partying) one by one….first Andrea goes out to another room because she was told that the flush was not working. Then Falak went out leaving Minal alone with Rajvir (who was related to a politician).

Rajvir then tries to molest Minal – for he thought that if a girl could come at late night to a resort with new male-friends, drink alcohol with them, share non-veg jokes, dressed pretty garishly for a party – she must be even game to have sex with him.

But Rajvir was sadly mistaken! Minal hits him with a bottle and runs away from the resort with her 3 friends. The other boys rush Rajvir to the hospital! Rajvir survives but is full of vengeance for the girls.

They start harassing the girls. Falak loses her job as they make a dirty image of hers go viral that reaches her office! They then try to drive the girls out of their rented apartment. One day Rajvir’s friends even pick up Minal in their car, rape her inside the car and drop her back near her apartment! And then the boys lodge a backdated FIR stating that the girls were prostitutes trying to extort money and attempted to murder Rajvir because he refused to pay them!

Amitabh Bachchan fights on behalf of the girls. The girls eventually win.

Points to be noted:

Film tries to tell that since males have reckless sex – both before and after marriage (with females other than wife), why should females not have the right to have random sex too?

Why is it a taboo when :

1.Girls have consensual sex after reaching adulthood ?

2.Girls go to a pub at late night for hard drinks?

3.Girls wear sensually attractive or revealing dresses?

I don’t really understand why such points had to be specifically made in the film! If males are womanising …. who are they womanising with? Female Robots?! But of course with females! So if males are leading a reckless sex life- partying, boozing, womanising..so are the girls doing the same since time immemorial – partying, boozing, manising!

Yea- one more thing that they point out is: Males should be taught the meaning of ‘NO’. Like ‘No’ means ‘Don’t do it’ – this ‘No’ can come from any source – be it sex-worker, girl-friend, lover, wife. So when a female says ‘NO’ – males should better move out of her way.

So this film has a message for parents (of sons esp.) – teach them the meaning of ‘No’.

Also include the following:

A female body may look alluring esp. after puberty..because of hormones getting released etc. but they should learn how to control their ‘senses’ and not get attracted by the opposite sex. It is better to become gays also but never ever approach a female unless she gives a ‘YES’ green signal. Till that time…just wait and watch porn films, hot item girls gyrating on the pole, sleazy item numbers released in regular films….read sci-fi books etc.
