Ae Dil Hai Mushkil – Review

Oh! Heart, its difficult.

What is difficult?- Read the story of the film…and you will know what is difficult!

Alizeh meets Ayan at a night club:

Ayan is a rich man – rather filthy rich who flies by private jets. His mother had run away from home when he was only 2. Reason of why she ran away – not shown in the film….maybe his father was  not as filthy rich as he was today…otherwise females would seldom run away….

While he was sipping his drink, a female (Alizeh) happens to see him and calls him towards her and makes him dance with her. While dancing they probably get turned-on and in a frenzy rush to a lounge to make love on the couch. Suddenly Alizeh realizes that Ayan is even failing to smooch her well…so she guessed his ‘further’ performance would not be up-to the mark…or satisfactory. Fearing a ‘below-average’ ‘fu*k’ with a total stranger, she refuses to have sex with him. Then they decide to chat…and finally they exchange names! Yes…like no –  they did not ask each other’s name before that – they were just physically drawn towards each other and thought of eff-ing. That’s all! Wow! So Hollywood film-ish na!…..wow!

Ayan had a fight with his girl friend because of which he was alone in the pub – drinking – he hated fighting with his girlfriend (GF). And why did he fight with his GF Lisa? Because she was very negligibly dressed for the night club! According to Ayan, Lisa was just wanting to attend the party in her under garments….and when he objected to it, they fought!

Why was Alizeh in the night club – looking for a good prey to have sex with?- Well she loved a man from her college days, Ali (Fawad Khan) who did reciprocate to her feelings…but not as passionately as she expected him to. She felt that he was just making use of her for maybe sex or listen to his blabbering that’s all. He had then found someone special and had dumped Alizeh. This had broken her heart totally! Her father had then managed to rope in a good looking doctor for her and she was engaged to him. They were a family of 4 sisters and she was the youngest…but she often felt that she was not pampered enough as is understood that the youngest one is the family is most loved!

Well….she was living alone in an apartment in London. It was not clear as to who was bearing her expenses. Her father or fiancé….this fact remains unclear in the film. Of course she must be in a sexual relationship with her fiancé…a female who is ready to jump on the couch with a perfect stranger will not be effing her fiancé…..highly unprobable.

Ayan and Alizeh decide to introduce each other to their respective partners. They met and Alizeh insults Lisa for her dumb attitude…she even calls her a ‘Paidayashi Vaishya’ (born prostitute) – as her kind of females rope in rich males to bear their expensive lifestyle….because of this both throw red-wine on each other…wow – so Hollywood film-ish no? Wow!

Anyway, they meet again to make up but Lisa and the doctor (alizeh’s fiancé) go to the toilet for a quickie…effing i.e….and they get caught red-handed by Ayan and Alizeh. Well, this may be called instant karma! Ayan and Alizeh were about to pounce on each other the very first time they met…at least the doc and lisa went to eff on their second meeting – that way – Lisa and doc were more sober and civil.

Ayan gets drunk up on seeing his GF in a compromising position with the doc. Alizeh then tells him that he never was in love with her…and that he was just using her body for sex….Ayan agrees to Alizeh! Wow – such a great revelation the party-pick-up girl that Alizeh was – made to Ayan! And what should she (Alizeh) call herself? Being engaged to the doctor, she was ready to eff a complete stranger…so what kind of a female was she…..if not a ‘born prostitute’ then a ‘made by circumstance prostitute’?…the ‘prostitute’ factor being common though!

So both Ayan & Alizeh fly off to Paris for a long holiday (to get over their shock up on seeing their respective partners 2-timing…multi-timing them) – yipeee…remember they were filthy rich so could afford a filthy lifestyle too!! They book a single room and Ayan jumps on the bed with shoes on…I mean look at how unhygienic he was! We, Indians, take off our shoes outside the door – lest it spreads germs inside the house…and Ayan starts jumping on the bed like some street beggar who has suddenly become rich and had never seen a spongy bed!

Ok, at the night club, Alizeh meets her ex-lover – Ali.….and all her memories come flashing back! She wants to leave immediately but Ali apologises and proposes her. She agrees to marry him…after all she loved him…so what if she was sleeping around with males she found attractive in night-clubs while being engaged to a doctor? Huh? No this is not shown in the film…but is understood folks – like that night was not Alizeh’s first night in the night club….the night she had picked up Ayan…

Anyways, Ayan meets a gorgeous poetess (Saba) in the airport. She gives him her number and he calls her after 3 months. She mentions that she was getting restless for his call. She was a very pretty poetess (Ash) so it was a humiliating feeling for her and hurt her ego….. that a male does not ring her in spite of having her number. She then lets him live-in with her in her Vienna flat. They obviously have sex and seemed very compatible too. Saba then introduces Ayan to her ex-hubby Tahir (SRK) and Tahir makes Ayan understand that ‘one-sided’ love was the best thing to happen to anyone! Wow!  Ayan then re-connects with Alizeh and sends her pics of his live-in relationship with Saba.

Alizeh, in the meanwhile was not very happy with her marriage with her lover Ali. She was suspicious of his flirtatious nature and kept him on constant vigilance. She realized that she was getting paranoid about her relationship with Ali…and it was making her lose her identity. She decides to break-up her marriage. Btw. because she was marrying Ali, her parents disowned her – so she was living alone somewhere…who was funding her existence – not shown in film…..had she then taken the same route as Lisa (Ayan’s ex-GF)?

Ayan, in the mean while, becomes a famous singer – oh! It is not a big deal to become a famous singer for filthy-rich people. Hire an advt. agency, some good orchestra, scream at the top of your voice and market your cd’s well up on release, you are famous. He had money to splurge…so he was bound to become famous. He was such a talented being that he could only release one song per year ! well…if someone is truly talented and God gifted…he/she can write 10 songs in 1 hour.

He happens to meet Ali at a concert and asks about Alizeh. Ali tells him that she had left him and gone. Ayan then searches for her…and eventually finds her. She was dying of cancer – 4th stage. She dies.

End of Story.

PS: I am very thankful to Karan Johar for writing this story and letting us know how the filthy rich spend their money on wasteful pursuits. May many middle class citizens watch this film and understand that they are not missing much because of lack of money!
