Ugly – Film Review

A 9 years old girl is kidnapped by a toy maker cum seller. He had no intentions of killing her though. But still she gets murdered! Would it have been better for her to continue living.I guess not – given the circumstances and the people around her who she was growing with!

Mother of the girl –

Ex-Wife of a loser and struggling actor.

Currently married to a cop. This cop – she had turned down during her college days and had married the unemployed struggling actor – and bore him a daughter. After divorce, she was living with the cop and her daughter. She was under medication. The cop had married her out of ego – not love and treated her as just an object – a trophy. He obviously had no fatherly feelings whatsoever for the daughter.

During her time of depression, she mixed afeem (drugs) in her daughter’s milk so that she could have a good time with her husband’s Producer friend….(you know what a ‘good time’ means right?)

Biological father of the girl-

Struggling actor.

In a live-in relationship with an Item girl(Rakee Malhotra). Item girl was the mutual friend of the wife too. Was living off his friend – like his friend – a producer – paid him for his food and rent, car petrol etc. This father was allowed to meet the daughter once a week.

So you see folks – this is the kind of environment the poor girl was surrounded with – I just gave the details of the father and the mother because the personality of parents is actually all important for the ‘growing years’ of the child.

Anyways, so when the father and his friend realize that the girl had gone missing – they go to report at the police station – they were actually chasing the toy seller(the actual culprit) but he died accidentally and thus they reached the police station.

The scenario at the police station was most disturbing! The officers were gleefully fooling around with them asking them stupid questions etc.and they just got serious when they heard the name of the officer cop. Ronit, the cop and present husband of the girl’s mother started torturing them – beating them up – all for revenge and personal grudge.

Film continues and unfolds how selfish people are – the fact that the girl was missing was becoming secondary – but each one thought of making a quick money outta the situation.including the mother!

Also showed the shamelessness of petty criminals – for in spite of getting beaten black and blue by the cops, the males were trying to cheat them to make money!

Therefore the fact that the girl died an early death is not to lament about – her life would have been more miserable with the kind of people she was putting up with! A suicidal mother, a failure biological father, a vindictive and rude adopted father .she would just have grown into some Item girl – like her Rakhee Aunty(her father’s s*x partner) and become a dance bala in some corner street dingy bar!

Take home from this film: Well, the s*x starved people of our nation may make a new song album – ‘mujhe jhakjhoor de, nichod de – kabhi history class main kabhi corridor main!’.blah blah blah!
