Very sensitive issues were handled in this film!
Incest and child sex abuse!!
I will obviously not reveal the end since the film is recently released and our Indian Directors and Producers are not very rich also…if I reveal the end, then people will not go to watch the film and that would cause them monetary loss! …see I am basically a very good human…..
Story line::
Bidya Sinha a.k.a Durga Rani Singh is a lady who has suffered sex abuse from her own male relatives during her childhood. She then obviously develops aversion towards sex. Her 1st marriage falls apart as she lay on bed like a zombie and generally avoided sex with her husband.
After divorce, she joins a school as an accountant cum receptionist. She often used to see a girl who was punished almost daily for sleeping off in her classroom. Bidya gets pally with her and discovers that the poor girl’s parents had both died in an accident and her uncle was sexually abusing her. She tells this to her grandmother and generally feels relieved that with granny knowing about her younger son’s depravity, the little girl will not go through any more torture! But she was sadly mistaken! The granny knew about her son’s depravity and she was well aware that he was molesting the little girl.
The story is all about how Durga will help the little girl escape the depraved hell she was in and how she then raises her like her own daughter.
Film Rating – 5/5.
I am amazed at the deftness with which the story writer & the Director introduced such sensitive issues like CSA (childSex abuse) and incest through the film. Usually it is very difficult to even talk about such issues with the Indian commoners! More and more people should be made aware that such heinous acts against children is a criminal offence and that they can spend the rest of their lives behind the bars!

During my childhood I used to listen to this song and wondered exactly who would save…this film revealed ‘ we need to save ourselves’!

In this film, the little girl was suffering in the hands of her own grandmother and uncle – how and who will save such girls? In fact children don’t even realize that they are being wronged..it is only after they grow that they come to know of such facts and then they suffer from guilt….they either take to drugs or commit suicide…or just turn into a menace for the rest of the society because they spread what they got ..i.e. hatred, debauchery & torture!…very rarely they can turn into someone like Durga Rani Singh who sacrificed her own personal life just to save a little girl from the hands of the wolves!
Sad to see the state of Police Station and Hospital
Very sad to see the dilapidated condition of both the Police Station and Hospital of Chandanagore! On top the doctor was mentioning that the patient should be shifted to Government Hospital..which means the dilapidated hospital where the patient (Vidya Balan) was lying was a private Hospital!! Goodness gracious me! If a private hospital looked so unkempt and dilapidated….with damp wall and dirty appearance…how would the Govt. hospital be looking like….can’t even imagine!
