Jayanta Bhattacharya was a Bengali film director who was part of the collective Agragami which made several notable films in Bengali cinema, from 1950s to the 1970s.

We dedicate our CHRISTMAS saluting the spirit of this octogenerian thespian of Cinema… the SANTA CLAUS of Tollygunge Film Industry….Jayanta Bhattacharya…running 86 years….the only living member of the famous film Directorial Group “AGRAGAMI” who had numerous hits under its belt, many of them being with Uttam Kumar.

Even at his senior age, Jayanta Babu wants to learn more about Filming…Script techniques…Lighting….Editing..and more!!!!

Cinema for a Cause filmed his interview in connection with our ongoing Documentary “TIMELESS TUNES ” on Legendary Music Composer Sudhin Dasgupta. While filming we were touched by this man’s honesty about his profession…humility….and versatile creativity. We wish we had more like him in our INDUSTRY today!
