Comparitive Analysis – Behen Hogi Teri Vs. Meri Pyaari Bindu

I would like to comare the two films released in 2017 – Behen Hogi Teri (she maybe your sister not mine) and Meri Pyaari Bindu (My dear girl, by the name of Bindu). I have already written about Meri Pyaari Bindu so I will not write anything more on that.

About Behen Hogi Teri :

Although the film promos used a rather shocking catch phrase : All Indians are NOT my brothers and sisters!- a line from the pledge that most Indian students say in schools – the line actually is ‘All Indians ARE my brothers and sisters’. Yes, we have also grown up and we have also understood and felt the attraction for the opposite sex and jokingly we used to say ‘except one’ – in our thoughts! During our times, we were simpler I  guess – so we said ‘except one’….nowadays it is quite possible that students are saying ‘except couple of ‘em’…..just assuming – I maybe wrong!

So when I went to see the film, I was wondering which film director dared to defy the phrase from the pledge and how did the censor board pass it too….but after watching the film, I felt deeply relaxed! Why? Because just couple of weeks ago I had watched a film ‘Meri Pyaari Bindu’ which showed the life style of ‘drain worms’ wanting to fornicate 24/7! I was pretty disillusioned after watching the film because I felt that all the big essays I write about morality etc. will fall in deaf ears because if the current generation is so shameless – like wanting to – dive on bed – with anyone and everyone kindz –  then who am I witting for!?

But Behen Hogi Teri was at least a lot more clean! The neighbourhood fellow loved the girl next door but since you grow up together and probably even tie Rakhis and celebrate Bhai Dooj together, it is seldom thought that during adolescence or adulthood, you may start feeling something else for the person who was your chaddi-buddy! But this is what happened with the boy and he manages to impress the girl also. Lot of pandemonium is created but eventually they come together and get married.

At least in this film, they showed the young couple to have total sense of ‘maryadas’ – the limit that one should maintain before wedlock. Not even once have they been shown in any compromising position and when the boy asks her for a kiss, she throws a flying kiss towards him and says all this after marriage! Oof ! thank God…so at least my write-ups are not going to be wasted after all! There are people who still believe that virginity is precious and certain things are best done after wedlock.
