Action Replayy – film review

A movie which could not make it big at the box office….but certainly was loaded with several subtle messages. Let me point them out one by one:

    1. A beautiful looking female will always want a smart, good looking male as her life partner. It did not happen in Ash’s case in this movie. She got married to ‘ugly’ Akshaya because of circumstances but could never love him from her heart. She indulged in shopping and wasted money, trying to keep herself busy but still she was unhappy.
    2. Nor was the ugly husband happy – he was working hard to make money and more money but inside his own wife was an eye-sore for him.
    3. Children born to such parents are the worst sufferers – as seen in this movie – how-much-ever he tried to bring them together – it never could happen successfully. Thus he was himself a cynic and never believed in subtler indications of life – ie. Did not believe in love and marriage was out of question for him!
    4. Thus in the time machine, when the son goes to the past, he tries to create circumstances which could make his parents fall in love with each other – shows how important is acceptance and love before tying the knot.

  1. First thing he does is – make his father look good – dental surgery etc. – indicating ‘beauty IS skin deep afterall’ – looks matter a hell lot – the reason why fairness crèmes are minting money like nobody’s business!
  2. Now the movie showed the time machine blah blah – the couple fall in love and are inseparable even at ripe old age…etc. etc – but what happens in real life – lets see the possibilities – may happen, may not happen…so in the real life situation:

    1. Female ( good looking or even ugly)  with lots of money pick up gigolos or become desperate housewives – Ash may be shown buying stuff in the film – but in real life they buy ‘sex’ (ref. film :  Dil toh baccha hai ji….Oops and many more such films on bored wives with money …or even no money, with old haggard husbands).

  1. Rich males – with zero love from home front -definitely would pick up ‘pick up’ girls – this males have established since eons – their right to enjoy more than one ‘partner’. As society evolved, females belonging to such ‘love’ starved families generally grew up to be rebels and try to behave like males as a self defense mechanism…thus land up ruining their lives…along with ruining the lives of forthcoming generations – that such females eventually beget. Males born to such ‘character less’ families become wasteful confused fools causing unrest in the society.

Anyways, this review can continue endlessly – all I want to convey is that the film tried to show the lifestyle of a more or less broken family . Also the fact that ‘love’ factor is the prime most important factor – so enough time should be given to the couple to interact and exchange their views, opinions etc. before they are made to tie the nuptial knot.  Really pity the yesteryear generations because they were forced to marry just anyone who their parents chose for them – really pathetic…the reason why we have so many confused unhappy souls in this world…. leading a loveless, lustful life!
